Limits and plans.

What you can check as a guest, with a free account and on each paid plan, what happens when you reach a limit, and when your allowance resets.

You can try every tool without an account. Creating a free account (no card needed) raises the limits, and paid plans add mailbox checks and much larger volumes. Single-address checks are never counted against these limits.

These figures load live from the same settings our servers enforce.

A row is one address you submit for checking, including duplicates. Mailbox checks are a separate allowance: they confirm that an inbox exists by asking the receiving mail server, and they are a paid-plan feature (free accounts include a small monthly number so you can try it).

How the limits work

  1. Per fileThe most rows you can check in a single upload or paste. Above it we don’t just stop you: you can check the first rows now, or create an account or move up a plan to check the whole file. The ceiling for every plan is 250,000 rows per file.
  2. Per dayResets at 00:00 UTC (5:30 AM in India). Guests are counted by network and by a random device ID stored in your browser, and the higher of the two is used, so people sharing an office network are not penalised for each other’s usage.
  3. Per monthResets on the 1st of each month, UTC. Whichever of the daily and monthly limits you reach first applies.
  4. Mailbox checksCounted per address that gets a definitive answer. Results of Unknown are never charged. Plan allowances refresh monthly; pay-as-you-go top-ups never expire and are used after your plan’s allowance.
  5. DownloadsGuests can download results 3 times; a free account removes that limit.
  6. Request rateGuests can make up to 60 requests a minute from one network. This protects the service for everyone and you will not reach it by normal use.

What happens when you reach a limit

  1. A file is over the per-file limitYou see the exact limit and your choices: check the first rows of the file now, or create an account or upgrade to check the rest. We tell you how many rows were not checked.
  2. A guest reaches the daily limitResults already on your screen stay yours to keep. You are told when the allowance resets, in your own time zone, and what a free account would include.
  3. A free or paid account reaches the daily limitYou can request an instant increase for the rest of the day (twice a day), otherwise the allowance resets at 00:00 UTC.
  4. An account reaches the monthly limitYou see the date it resets, and the plans that raise it. Nothing you have already checked is lost.
  5. Mailbox checks run out part-way through a listThe check pauses instead of failing. Nothing already checked is lost or charged twice. Buy credits and press Resume, or wait for your allowance to refresh.
Where checks run: several free checks run in your browser, and others are processed on our servers. Either way, third-party addresses are never stored in readable form: they are keyed-hashed (HMAC-SHA256) the moment they reach our servers. See how we protect checked emails.

Fair use and higher limits

Automated or abusive use may be rate-limited. If you need more than the Scale plan includes, or a limit is blocking legitimate work, email [email protected] and tell us what you are trying to do.
